Bulacan Chapter’s PSD- Jun & Nancy Saret, and the BCBP Bulacan Ladies organized the first social action activity of the chapter for the year. They contributed resources & effort to feed a total of 300 Nanays and malnourished kids at the Balagtas Lion’s Center last March 6, 2010;Saturday; 6:30 to 11 am.
After a brief prayer by Sis Elvie Justiniano and opening remarks by sis Nancy Saret, the ladies distributed nutritious breakfast (lugaw, hard boiled eggs, chocolate juice & goodies, bibingka & puto & ukoy) to the delight of the guests from depressed barangays of Balagtas Bulacan. The sisters also gave a special party for the kids, with exciting games, prizes and raffles courtesy of sisters Roselle dela Cruz, Daisy Rivera, Gemma Estabas and Esmie Santiago. Sis Imee Basilio emceed the event. Sister Tes Roque cooked the food at Fortune Restaurant. These were prepared and served by Lolit Catada, Maricon Coralde, Gemma Estabas, Nora dela Cruz, Sonia Bautista, Malou Alcaraz, Cristy Andres, Yeye Agustin, Janet Santiago, Weng Villanueva and Esmie Santiago. All BCBP Bulacan Chapter Ladies led by Sis Ruthie Ignacio contributed cash, in kind and effort for the success of this touchy activity. Of course, the strong PSD men assisted the ladies in the movement of logistics.
We could not stop hunger and thirst, but we could at least share God’s love to less fortunate brethren. We heard comments from sisters, such as “The smile and glow on their faces removed the tiredness of our bodies”. Actually, Jesus said, “whatever you did to the least of people, you did it unto Me”. We were all blessed to see them leave with goody packs of rice, canned goods, toys, URC crackers/cookies, coloring pads, stickers and vitamins (Propan and PotenCee). The children and nanays were very happy. The Nanays are looking forward to the next activity- skill training.
